Orthopedics (or orthopaedics) is a medical specialty focused on the diagnosis, correction, prevention, and treatment of patients with skeletal deformities—disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. While orthopedic surgeons are trained to perform surgery, they also manage conditions through non-surgical methods such as pain medication, casts, and rehabilitative exercises.
